Boccia brings athletes together at inaugural Para Futures Cup

Published Wed 07 Oct 2026

Boccia Australia was proud to be involved in the inaugural Libby Kosmala Para Futures Cup, held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra from 2–5 October 2026. The event brought emerging Para athletes from across Australia together to experience 12 sports, build connections and explore new sporting opportunities.

Boccia featured in Friday afternoon’s activities, with Dan and Ash’s Boccia 360° giving participants an opportunity to get involved, connect with their teammates and discover the game. The session showcased boccia as a sport people can enjoy together, with teamwork and friendly competition at its heart.

Boccia Australia also supported two boccia sessions on Saturday, giving participants further opportunities to learn, practise and explore the sport. These sessions formed part of a weekend where athletes could broaden their sporting experience and discover new possibilities.

The weekend highlighted the value of creating opportunities for emerging Para athletes to try something new in a supportive environment. For Boccia Australia, it was a chance to introduce more people to boccia and build awareness of the opportunities our sport offers.

Thank you to the AIS, Paralympics Australia, event organisers and everyone who helped bring the Cup to life for the next generation of Para athletes.
