Get connected, start your boccia journey

One of Boccia Australia's strategic pillars is to GROW our Boccia Community. We want to inspire all our participants, players, officials, coaches and our broader boccia community through our participant journey.

TRY - PLAY - BELONG - PROGRESS

Whether you're picking up a ball for the first time, looking for a welcoming local club, becoming a coach or volunteer, or dreaming of representing Australia, there's a place for you in boccia. Our participation journey is built around four simple stages—Try, Play, Belong and Progress. recognising that every person's journey is unique. Some people play socially for life, others become coaches, volunteers or officials, and some choose to pursue the athlete pathway. Whatever your goals, we're committed to creating fun first experiences, strong club communities, meaningful opportunities to grow, and lifelong involvement in our sport. Because success in boccia isn't measured by where you finish—it's about finding your place and enjoying the journey.

Boccia also has a new National Participation Plan with a VISION to grow boccia participation by deliverying high-quality, fun, inclusive and connected experiences that convert first-time particpants into lifelong players.  Come on this journey with us!

Aligning with the Australian Sports Commission Sports Participation Strategy: PLAY WELL - where everyone has a place in sport.

  • Developing new programs that deliver quality, fun, and positive sport experiences to increase participant numbers.
  • Expand the places where Boccia is played to include a broader range of people.
  • Remove barriers to participate for those people who enable and deliver our sport.
  • Strengthen and expand grassroots competitions so there are more positive first experiences.

Purpose

Provide Boccia experiences to all people of all abilities from social to high-performance levels that are fun, challenging, and socially interactive within a connected Boccia community.

Pathway

This is the introduction level to Boccia.  Where people can play and try boccia at grassroots level through a Come & Try or an activation.  They would then join a program or club for social play and some matches.  Learn to have a love of the game and build their boccia community.
