Have your say: Landmark Para-sport Survey Now Open

Published Mon 06 May 2024

Facilitated by the Australian Sports Commission and Paralympics Australia, the survey is part of a key commitment of Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Sport Strategy to reduce inequity of opportunity for Para athletes and create an environment that allows them to make the most of their talents.

Australian Wheelchair Rugby Captain and member of the AIS Athlete Advisory Committee, Chris Bond encourages as many people as possible to complete the survey.

“As we get closer to a home Games in Brisbane 2032, we need to put a lot of work into pathways and development in Para sport here in Australia to ensure we have the strongest Paralympic team we can represent us on home soil,” Bond said.

“I would encourage all current and past athletes to give 15 minutes towards helping shape the next generation by filling out this survey.

Two-time Paralympic gold medallist Rachael Watson echoes Bond’s comments

“It is critical that we hear from a wide range of voices from across the sport industry. We want to know what you think about participating in sport, what motivates you and any barriers you might face to getting involved in sport,” Watson said.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and is open until 12 May 2024.

The Understanding Barriers to Entry and Progression in the Paralympic Pathway Survey is one of more than 60 priority projects being developed and implemented as part of Horizon 1 of the HP2032+ Sport Strategy.
