2025 Bant Summary

Published Tue 07 Oct 2025

The Boccia Australia National Titles (BANT) 2025 welcomed 45 athletes from across Australia and New Zealand to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra. Across five days of competition, athletes showcased skill, strategy, and determination, with the event marking several exciting advancements for the sport.

One of the biggest changes was the introduction of the Boccia Competitions Management System (BCMS), replacing traditional paper scoring sheets with a fully electronic process. Athletes now confirm scores directly on court before game referees sign off digitally, meaning results are available in real time for athletes, officials, and spectators to follow.

Event Highlights from BCMS Data

  •  103 matches recorded
  • Red won 41 games; Blue won 62
  • Over 4,800 balls thrown
  • Total match time: 93 hours, 13 minutes, 23 seconds

More match details can be found on our BCMS results page(Please note that some limitations on the system meant that there were two concurrent events for BC4 which were then joined for the final result. "Friendlies" were also added for referee training and to ensure all athletes had a minimum of three games for the individual competition.)

Court One matches were livestreamed (view here), with coverage designed to showcase a wide range of athletes and classifications. The high-quality commentary drew praise from viewers, many noting its value not only to athletes but also in lifting the profile of boccia in Australia.

Boccia Australia extends sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event – BA staff, referees, call room managers, commentators, event partners (AIS, Spark Event Group, Australian TV Media Group), secretariat and volunteer coordinators, and dedicated timekeepers.

With the national titles now concluded, the focus shifts toward the World Boccia Challenger, also to be hosted at the AIS from 3–11 November 2025, where Australia will once again welcome international boccia talent to its courts.
